•       Live Skype sessions: TALK2US  Callers discuss the day’s topic with staff members

•       Podcasts & Radio: Daily broadcasts and podcasts of news and features

There are three levels of instruction and resources:

Level One consists of shorter stories, photos, and videos using a 1500-word vocabulary based on the VOA Word Book.

•       As it Is is a short current affairs program

•       In the News is a roundup of the day’s news

•       Learning English TV is a 3-minute video news story with English subtitles

•       The Day in Photos is a daily gallery of news photos with captions

•       Words and Their Stories is a 5-minute program on words and phrases

•       English in a Minute is a 1-minute video to explain idioms and expressions

Level Two contains news, culture, history, science, and business. Stories in this section come with a quiz for users to test their comprehension.

•       American Mosaic is a 5-minute program on music, pop culture and lifestyle

•       Science in the News is a 5-minute program on science and technology.

•       This Is America focuses on major issues in American life and explores popular locations.

•       The Making of a Nation is a 5-minute program about U.S. history

•       News Words is a 1-minute video to explain words in the news

•       Everyday Grammar is a hugely popular simple explanation of a grammatical point.

•       Stories on health and lifestyles, business, technology, environment and science.

Level Three features more advanced literature, conversation, education, and writing. 

•       American Stories offers a short story from American authors with a lesson plan and quiz.

•       Confessions of an English Learner is a blog with writing prompt for learners

•       Articles and tips on education, testing, and writing appear in Education.

•       English-for-Specific-Purpose (ESP) required for certain fields of employment. (Level Two)

•       LA Theatre Workshops is a collection of classic plays for advanced learners. (Level Three)

•       Dedicated program for VOA audience in specific regions with TESOL-certified instructors. This program has started in Kenya at the American Resource Center, where VOA offers a course for English teachers, “Writing for the Internet.” VOA will publish selected writings from the program on our website, mobile and social media. VOA will expand the program to other countries in the future. (Level Three)
